			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;">There are many physicians that get credit report of the employees before they hire them. However, many people have questioned its legal validity and also questioned the benefits of asking credit report of potential employees.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The number of people that work in physicians’ office is likely to increase from just 2.3 million in 2010 to about 3 million in 2020. A recent study conducted by a job site found that about 77 percent of 294 healthcare managers were affected by bad hire. More than 33 percent of the affected managers had lost more than $25,000 because they did not hire the right people. Some healthcare managers lost about $50,000 because of had hire. Some of the expenses that managers incur because of bad hire include lower morale, decreased productivity and strained relations with the patients.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Physicians were of the view that checking the credit report also reduced the risk of fraud, embezzlement and violent behaviour. When physicians check credit report of their employees, they get an idea of the payment problems and large debts that their employees have to pay. Physicians also check the medical licenses and the criminal background of the employees to make sure they hire the right people.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">However, looking at the credit history of prospective employee is illegal in a few states. Physicians who look at credit history of their employees in these states could face discrimination lawsuits. Federal law prohibits employers for denying employment to people because they are bankrupt.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Physicians who practice in States that prevent the use of credit history to deny employment, can use expects in the law to check the credit history of the prospective employees. Most States usually allow employers to check the credit history of their employees if the employee is likely to handle the finances of the company or handle sensitive information of the patients. Physicians can use this loophole to check the credit history of their employees. However, the burden of proving that credit history was checked because the employee is handling crucial information lies with the employer.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Some experts are of the view that checking the credit history of the prospective employees may not help. They are of the view that there is no correlation between low credit score and the performance of the employees. They believe the recent changes in the economy and bad luck are some of the main causes of a weak credit report. Also, some credit agencies may make mistakes in the credit report which could lower the credit rating of the employee.</p>

There is immense pressure on medical personnel who provide emergency medical aid, as they are the only people who can save people who are injured or sick. Emergency medical service professionals or EMS professionals who are also known as first responders, are medical professionals who respond to emergency medical situations like car accidents, fires, head injuries, crime scenes and heart attacks. Paramedics and emergency medical technicians are examples of popular EMS careers. EMS professionals usually work along with fire fighters and cops to provide the best medical assistance in emergency situations. The medical aid that EMS professionals provide varies depending on their role and their level of certification. These medical professionals take all possible steps to stabilize the condition of the patient and take them to a medical facility for continued medical care. EMS professionals usually work as a team where a person drives and the others provide emergency medical care to the person who is injured. When the patient arrives at a medical center, they are transferred to nursing personnel by paramedics who give details of the treatment procedures and their observations to attending physicians.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The three basic designations of EMS professionals based on their training and responsibilities are:</p>

<li>Emergency Medical Technicians – Basic</li>
<li>Emergency Medical Technicians – Intermediate</li>
<li>Paramedics</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align: justify;">While emergency medical technicians are required to provide on-scene care and transport the patient to a medical center, the paramedics have several other responsibilities. Intermediate EMTs are more trained when compared to basic EMTs and can help in stabilizing the blood pressure of patients, bandage wounds and assist patients who are suffering from heart problems.  Paramedics are expected to administer highly sophisticated pre-hospital care that can help in saving the life of patients. They are trained to use complex equipments and can administer drugs both intravenously and orally.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The paramedics and the EMTs must maintain contact with the dispatcher and apprise the dispatcher of the situation. If required, they can request senior medical personnel to take care of the situation.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">To become an EMT, you can get training from fire, police, hospitals and the health department. There are many universities and colleges that offer non-degree courses to people who want to become EMT. To become an EMT, you require about 120 of classroom training plus about 10 to 12 hours of internship in an emergency room of a hospital and about 50 hours of training with a field rescue company. For intermediate training, you must have about 55 hours of additional instructions in esophageal airways, patient assessment and intravenous fluids. Even though registration is not compulsory, it can improve your chances of getting a job. The registration is renewed once in two years only if the medical personnel are active in the field and fulfills all the education requirements. Paramedics who seek advancement must leave filed work and take up the job of administrative officer, operations manager or director of emergency services of a medical center.</p>

Also, they feel alienated from the society as they are unable to attend social events. Most social events usually take place after office hours, which is the time when most medical personal have night shift. Medical personnel who have night shift usually are less involved in sporting and cultural activities which can affect their family bonding.</p>

Initially, working at odd hours may seem advantageous as they have less job pressure and also because they have to spend less on childcare cost. They are taking steps to encourage people to have a social life outside their facility. Many universities are witnessing a huge demand for students who have done a course in gerontology.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Reason for Rise in Demand</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">According to the statistics released by Social Security Administration, about 10,000 people turn 65 each day in America. The aging population in America will need nurses, physicians, psychiatrist and many other healthcare professionals who can take care of the unique healthcare requirements of the aged.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Another reason for rise in demand for these healthcare professionals is that many students are not willing to take a course in gerontology. Research has revealed that only 9 universities in US offer doctorate program in gerontology and many of these programs are not filing up. Also, less than 1 percent of the family medicine and internal medicine residents opt for geriatrics. This lack of interest is like to create a huge demand for geriatricians who are physicians who specialize in taking care of the elderly.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Many students don&#8217;t opt for a course in gerontology is because of demanding work conditions and low pay. In a recent study, it was found geriatricians earn less than half of what physicians with other specialities earn. One of the reasons why geriatricians earn less is because seniors usually rely on Medicare to reimburse their medical bills. The reimbursements received from Medicare are lower than the reimbursement received from private insurance companies. Also, many people who work in this field don&#8217;t receive employment benefits or health insurance which prevents them from taking this job.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Dealing with the Problem</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">To deal with the problem efforts must be made to increase the incentive received by gerontologist and increase the perception that people have towards aging adults. University must offer incentives like fellowships and scholarships to students opting for a course in gerontology.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Overcoming the phobia of working with the elderly is another problem that needs to be addressed. This phobia is growing because older people and young generation don&#8217;t get time to interact with each other. This phobia can be reduced by increasing the interaction between the young and the old.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The administration is planning to grant aid to people who come with innovative ideas to lift the health care sector. The administration is also planning healthcare programs like Children’s Health Insurance Program, Medicaid and Medicare to reduce the cost of healthcare. However, the administration was not forthcoming on the number of jobs these measures will create.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The $1 billion that Obama administration plans to use will reduce the corpus of CMS Innovation Center that was created under Affordable Care Act from $10 billion to $9 billion. To get a grant under the new scheme, the project must start within six months and the project must help in improving the job opportunities in the health care sector. The grant that people can receive under this scheme will range from $1 million to $30 million. The grant will be given to selected people in over 3 years.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Most political analysts are viewing this move of the President as a means of improving his chances of getting re-elected. The American economy is facing the risk of severe recession and the unemployment rate in America is about 9 percent.</p>

Recently Merritt Hawkins &amp; Associates, a division of AMN Healthcare Services Inc., conducted a survey to find out the average job offers received by new physicians.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In the survey it was found that new physicians received at least 50 job offers during their training period. Merritt Hawkins &amp; Associates also found that more than 47 percent physicians received at least 100 job offers during their training period.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In the survey, more than 300 physicians who were in their final year of training were contacted by recruiters either by email, telephone or by regular mail.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">James Merritt, founder of Merritt Hawkins, said in an interview that even in new doctors are getting many job offers even in stagnant economy. He added that the main problem was that there weren’t enough physicians to fill the available positions.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">However, even though the job market is favourable for people who are looking for jobs in the medical field, not all physicians are happy about the jobs they have. In the survey, it was also found that 28 percent of practising doctors wanted to change their profession if they were given a chance to study again.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Another fact that survey revealed that only 4 percent of the doctors wanted to work in places that had a population of less than 25,000 people. This means that rural areas are likely to have less number of doctors when compared to urban areas.</p>

The main job of a dietician is to treat a health problem by promoting healthy eating habits and making the required chances in the diet. There are many dieticians who manage the food service systems in organizations like schools, colleges and hospitals.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Today, dieticians can specialize in a certain field and become a community dietician, clinical dietician, consultant or management dietician. Clinical dietician offer services to institutes like nursing care facilities, hospitals and other medical institutes. They assess the nutrition requirements of patients and develop a program that will fulfil their requirement. They may also co-ordinate with doctor and other healthcare professionals when preparing the nutrition program of the patient. Community dietician provides services to individuals and groups to protect them from health problems. They work in places like clinics, health organizations, welfare communities and all other places that require people who can prepare nutrition plans. Management dieticians work in large organizations or healthcare facilities like company cafeterias, schools, colleges and prison. They may also train other dieticians and workers and help them in preparing reports, budgets and enforce safety regulation at work. Consultant dieticians work either as consultants with healthcare and medical facilities or have their own clinics. They screen the medical condition of the patient and offer them advice them will help them lose weight and control their cholesterol. Some management dietician may also work for supermarkets, sports teams and other organizations that are in the nutrition related business.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">To become a dietician you must have at least a bachelor’s degree in dietician, food services management, foods and nutrition or any other related area. Some states may require you to get a license before you start practising. The requirements that you need to fulfil will vary depending on the State that you want to practice. Therefore it is important that you determine the requirement of the State before you start practising.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">You are required to complete supervised internship before you start practising. This can be done in two ways; one is by completing a program that is accredited by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. You can also complete this stipulation by completing 900 hours of supervised practise at any of the 245 accredited institutes.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Even though most sectors in the economy are showing dismal job numbers, the health care sector is the top sector when it comes to adding jobs. For instance, in July 2011 the health care sector was responsible for 31,000 jobs of the total 117,000 added in the month of July. For a period July 2010 to July 2011, the health care sector was responsible for adding about 300,000 new jobs. If these jobs were not created, the condition of the economy will be worse than what it is today.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Most job experts believe that health care sector will be one of the best sectors when it comes to job growth. According to Bureau of Labor Statistics, the health care sector is likely to generate about 3.2 million new jobs by 2019. This means that annual growth in this sector is expected to be about 22 per cent which is more than 2 times the projected increase for all major industries combines. More than half of the 20 fastest growing occupations in US are in the medical field. Most people are of the view that demand is likely to grow at an alarming pace and the country is likely to face a shortage of qualified doctors and nurses.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">One of the main reasons for growth of jobs in the medical field is the increase in aging population. As people become old, their medical requirements become complex and they require a larger health care support system. Also, there is a sharp increase in chronic costly diseases such as hypertension, heart diseases and diabetes. This means more expanses have to be increased in treatment of the disease and more trips to the doctor.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In fact, the increase in jobs in the medical field is an indication of growing health care. Adverse health condition of people is making it difficult for U.S. to reduce and control health care expenses. Today, Americans are spending more on health care that most other developing and developed countries in the world and this expense is increasing by the day.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">So even if the job growth in this sector is encouraging, it also indicates the sorry state of the health care system in the country.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">To deal with this problem health care experts are looking at ways of streamlining the health delivery system and reducing extraneous cost. Also, Affordable Care Act was passed to put a cap on the on the amount that insurers can spend on administrative cost.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">So health care is likely to dominate job scene for next few years but this increase in jobs also indicates our inability to keep our health cost down.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Dentists help in diagnosing and treating the problems in the tissues and teeth of their patients. They give medication and advice their patients to prevent future problems. Dentists also provide instructions on flossing, brushing and give advice on several other aspects of dental care. They fill cavities, remove decay, examine x-rays and also perform surgeries to correct the problems in the gums and teeth. They also replace the missing or problem teeth by taking measurements and making a model of teeth that needs to be replaced. Dentist could also administer anesthetics and suggest medication to correct the problem in your teeth.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Dentist may be required to use probes, drills, brushes, scalpels and several other instruments and equipments to correct the problem of their patients. Most dentists wear mask when examining and performing surgery, to protect themselves and their patients from various diseases.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Work Environment</h3>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Most dentists that practice in United States are solo practitioners. This means that they have to work alone and have a small staff to assist them. The school that you graduate from must be accredited by the American Dental Association&#8217;s (ADA&#8217;s) Commission on Dental Accreditation.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Most dental schools will require you to have at least 2 years of pre-dental education before they admit you in their school. Most students, who join these dental schools, have a bachelor’s degree when they apply in these schools. High school students that plan to become a dentist must take a course in physics, biology, health, chemistry and mathematics. Undergraduate students who plan to apply to a dental school after graduation must take many science courses. Most undergraduate students that want to become a dentist usually major in science to get into a good dental school.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Getting into a good dental school is not easy as competition is high in these schools. To get into a dental school you must take Dental Admission Test (DAT). Admissions in the dental school will be based on your DAT scores, grade points and information gathered by the school through your recommendation letters and personal interview.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">When you complete the course in the dental school, you are awarded the degree of Doctor in Dental Medicine or Doctor in Dental Surgery. After you get you are degree from an accredited school, you must pass the licensure test that is conducted by the State.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Employment in this field is likely to grow at a faster rate when compared to other jobs. Job prospects are good and as many hospitals require young dentist to replace the dentist who are expected to retire. Another reason for growth in this sector is the growing number of elderly people. Today, most elderly people suffer from dental problem which has created a huge demand for dentist. Also, preventive checkups among younger generation have increased as most people have started giving importance to their dental health.</p>

They also provide services to people who are at the risk of hearing loss because of noise population or exposure to certain drugs.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Most audiologists work with a team of psychologist, pathologist, social workers, physicians, occupational therapist, nurses and physical therapist to provide the best treatment possible to people who suffering from hearing problems. The team can assist the audiologist in assessment of the problem and suggest the right hearing devices that can help the patient deal with their hearing problem.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">To diagnose the hearing problem in patients, an audiologist may be required to conduct several tests. They may use several equipments and physical tests to find out the cause of problem. These tests are usually conducted in special rooms that are designed to get accurate results. To find out the cause of the problem, the audiologist may have to inspect the patient’s eardrum and remove earwax. They may also conduct a neuro-physiological test to measure the nerve impulses in the patient’s brain. This test is usually conducted to identify the cause and the location of the problem.</p>

They must also be sensitive to the needs of the patient and must have the skills to identify the cause of the problem. Since most audiologist work with a team, they must be able to work in a team environment without any problem.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">To become an audiologist, you need a bachelor’s degree in communication disorder, linguistic, audiology or any other related field. After completing your bachelor’s degree, you have to get a master’s degree in audiology that will require you to work as an intern at a medical facility.
